Advocacy for Participatory Citizenry Project

American Association Crimean Turks 2009 President and Youth Group visit Turkish Coalition of American in Washington DC
ADVOCACY FOR PARTICIPATORY CITIZENRY PROJECT, The Project was created and written by the 2009 President of the American Association of Crimean Turks, Ayla Bakkalli. The Project was created as a result of a two- pronged initiative. One, The Project was a response to members who wish to revive and revitalize the Association Youth members via development of a project and/or program and Second, The Project is considered a preliminary first step for the Association to qualify itself for Grant funds. This is the first time the American Association of Crimean Turks, Inc., is applying for grant funds under the 2009 Advocacy Project. The Project initiative has overwhelming support by the 2009 Board of Directors, Board of Trustees and Members. The Project approach centers on building expansive education tools on: a) identifying the role of citizenry and elected local Representative within a democratic society, b) elevate organization stature via project/program initiatives c) expand networking mechanism with other organizations, agencies, academia resulting in mutually beneficial collaborative initiatives d) develop Best Practice Model Citizen via the processes undertaking to qualify itself for TADF/TCA grant funds. The proposal was written by 2009 President Ms. Bakkalli and it is through this proposal that the Association has an opportunity to share its added vision with the Turkish American Federation (TADF) and Turkish Coalition of American (TCA), on the cultural diversity added to their communities by Turkish/Turkic Americans. The Project will provide access on networking opportunities for engagement between Association Youth and other like minded organizations as well as with possible internship opportunities at their local offices of the Representatives.
